MeshNetworks (acquired by Motorola in 2004 for $300M) was founded with the vision that the Mobile Internet should exploit the same proven architecture found in the wired internet. This architecture is based on a distributed mesh network that supports broadband data speeds by leveraging routing intelligence at the edge of the network. Using advanced ad hoc routing, Mesh was first to bring the advantages of the Internet’s self-forming/healing/balancing architecture to mobile networks.
Working for a combination of equity & cash, my role transitioned from high-level strategy, to recruiting a CEO who would operationalize this raw technology play into a commercial company with working products in the field. I also recruited the 1st outside BOD member.
MeshNetworks, Inc. is a true Category Creation success story – a pioneer in commercializing ad hoc wireless technology, and the 1st acknowledged leader in the field of mesh networking. I am proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to play a significant role in helping to get this company off the ground and running.

Flextronics acquired a Canada based Android startup with the intention of building it into a full blown next generation smartphone/mobile device OEM. At the time, this small company had great software developers, but no actual mobile device executives, which is why we were retained.
In less than a year we recruited a management team with extensive mobile phone experience, and covering a variety of key functions including; software & hardware engineering, product management, field operations, PMO and mobile applications marketing. Six of the 7 placements involved complex US-to-Canada immigration challenges (which we successfully overcame in every instance).

Phoenix was acquired by Excel (programmable switching) in 1998, and subsequently, as the communications middleware division of Excel was acquired by Lucent (Alcatel Lucent). Phoenix offerings included specialized call agent middleware that facilitates convergence of Mobile, Wireline, VPN and VOIP. This middleware was built using CORBA, Object-Oriented design, and C++ and JAVA languages.
We were retained after Phoenix had closed the series B round, and was still working out the product/service roadmap. At this point the company was still focused on Wireless Local Loop (WLL) projects in Asia, offering a combination of software, equipment & carrier service. Our work centered around recruiting senior executives who helped to further define the company’s direction & offerings, re-purpose resources, and execute the new plan.
